Material Handler
The Shipping Receiving Clerk examines shipment contents and compares them with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy. The clerk records shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes, and supports factory operations by receiving incoming material, counting and inventorying items, and checking the contents of packages against packing lists and manifests.
EssentialFunctions
- Prepare documents such as bills of lading.
- Correspond with order management and factory representatives to rectify problems so that customer need dates can be met.
- Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for transport.
- Contact carrier representatives to make transport arrangements.
- Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise; verify against documents, prepare merchandise, move to appropriate area, and handle customer pick‑ups.
- Assign, tag, and store received inventory in proper locations.
- Receive parts into stock from external suppliers.
- Ensure products are properly packed and labeled.
- Maintain a safe and clean working area.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management.
- Experience:
6 months or more of shipping and receiving experience. - Knowledge: of shipping and receiving processes; 5S principles; procedures for safely lifting/manipulating packages up to 50 pounds.
- Skills/Abilities: detail‑ and data-oriented; effective process evaluation and problem solving; ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment; maintain positive working relationships with internal customers; accurately count/identify parts and match with paperwork; work well in a team setting under immediate supervision.
- Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with government shipping regulations (ITNs, WAWF).
- Experience with an ERP system, preferably Oracle.
- 1‑3 years of experience in a regulated environment.
- Normal manufacturing environment; may require safety equipment (eye protection, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps).
- May be exposed to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes.
- Subject to on‑call duty.
Standing 90% of the time;
Sitting 10% of the time;
Lifting up to 50 pounds;
Pushing up to 50 pounds;
Use of computer for mental/visual tasks.
$24.35 - $30.15 per hour.
