The Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas.
Pay Rate
: $17.13–$18.00 per hour, DOE.
- Remove and sort through salvage material and garbage from salable goods.
- Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing.
- Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor.
- Use cardboard compactors and identify problems.
- Maintain donor tallies.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation; report any potential hazards or accidents.
- Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- If certified to Seattle Goodwill standards, consistently and safely perform forklift operations.*
- Minors are not allowed to use or perform any job duties with heavy machinery or compactors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience- High‑school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations- Seattle Goodwill forklift certification optional; must meet eligibility requirements.
Employees must lift and carry up to 30‑40 pounds; stand for long periods; frequently bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, and push; climb ladders; travel across a variety of surfaces, including stairs, ramps, and uneven terrain. Clear verbal and written communication is required, including basic English skills when necessary. Reliable attendance is essential.
