The Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas.

Pay Rate
: $17.13–$18.00 per hour, DOE.

• Remove and sort through salvage material and garbage from salable goods.
• Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing.
• Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor.
• Use cardboard compactors and identify problems.
• Maintain donor tallies.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation; report any potential hazards or accidents.
• Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• If certified to Seattle Goodwill standards, consistently and safely perform forklift operations.*
• Minors are not allowed to use or perform any job duties with heavy machinery or compactors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High‑school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required.

• Seattle Goodwill forklift certification optional; must meet eligibility requirements.

Employees must lift and carry up to 30‑40 pounds; stand for long periods; frequently bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, and push; climb ladders; travel across a variety of surfaces, including stairs, ramps, and uneven terrain. Clear verbal and written communication is required, including basic English skills when necessary. Reliable attendance is essential.
