School Bus Driver role at Edmonds School District

Position information:
We are currently hiring School Bus Drivers
. Part-time and substitute positions are available. No school bus driving experience is required; all training (approximately 4 to 7 weeks) is provided at the training pay rate. Enjoy a Monday-Friday schedule with holidays and school breaks off. This role serves a diverse student population in Edmonds, Lynnwood, Woodway, Brier, and Mountlake Terrace.

Responsibilities
  • Be on-call for routes, starting as early as 5:00 a.m. (hours vary by assignment).
  • Safely transport students to/from school and on field trips.
  • Drive large and small school buses with automatic transmission.
  • Read maps and follow directions/run sheets for routes.
  • Maintain student behavior management.
  • Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections.
  • Assist students in loading and unloading.
  • Clean and maintain buses and refuel as required.
  • Maintain composure under pressure.
  • Update daily paperwork/records.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle.
  • Good driving record.
  • Pass a background/fingerprint check; subject to random drug tests after hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to obtain a Commercial Driver's License; all necessary training provided by the School District.
Compensation

Hourly Rate: $35.57$40.97 per hour

Benefits

The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) provides access to health care services and retirement packages. Benefits are provided to eligible positions through SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board). Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance is determined by working 630 hours during the school year. Eligibility for retirement at the time of hire is determined by working at least 3.50 hours per day in a continuing position.
