The written examination portion of the test may have multiple steps which may be administered on different days (100% of the total score).
PARTICIPATION IN ALL PORTIONS OF THE EXAMINATION PROCESS IS BY OFFICIAL INVITATION ONLY
. Candidates who do not participate in all parts of the testing process will not be considered for the position.
SUBSTITUTE POSITION: SIX (6), SEVEN (7), OR EIGHT (8) HOURS PER DAY; TEN (10), ELEVEN (11), OR TWELVE (12) MONTHS PER YEAR.
BASIC FUNCTIONThe job of Instructional Assistant Special Education is done for the purpose of assisting a certificated teacher in providing instruction and care to individual or small groups of students with special needs in a regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; performs various clerical tasks in support of classroom activities; and monitors student behavior inside and outside the classroom. This job reports to a designated administrator.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Graduation from high school, or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience working with children in an organized setting is preferred.
- ALL CANDIDATES MUST TAKE AND OBTAIN A PASSING SCORE on the Lynwood Unified School District Proficiency Assessment (Written Examination), which meets a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrates knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Any other combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required skills, knowledge, or abilities may be considered.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
:
- Valid CPR certification issued by the American Red Cross or an authorized agency. WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN 3 MONTHS UPON OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT.
- Valid First Aid certification issued by the American Red Cross or an authorized agency. WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN 3 MONTHS UPON OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT.
- Employees must maintain up-to-date certifications in CPR and First Aid during employment.
