Job overviewThis is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, part time experienced Nurse to join a friendly dynamic team to promote best practice bladder and bowel care for the Blackpool and Fylde Coast community.
It is essential that you have a UK driving licence and access to a car for this role.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Bladder & Bowel) will have responsibility to manage a designated caseload of patients providing Specialist Nurse-Led Bladder & Bowel Clinics and home visits across the Fylde Coast area. This includes offering specialist male and female pelvic floor assessments, investigations and skills which includes digital rectal examination, portable bladder scanning and will work autonomously demonstrating and maintaining competence at a specialist level.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will have a Level One NMC Registration, ideally a nurse prescribing qualification and substantial continence promotion, urology, gynaecology and/ or colorectal and / or community nursing experience. This experience will provide you with the knowledge and skills to undertake expert assessment of patient's bladder and/ or bowel symptoms either in a clinic or home setting to deliver and evaluate specialised, individual programmes of care, advising where appropriate on changes to treatment and management.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist must be an excellent communicator, enthusiastic and well organised and work well under pressure.
Main duties of the jobThe Clinical Nurse Specialist (Bladder & Bowel) is responsible for a personal clinical caseload of patients with complex bladder and bowel continence care needs, ensuring that the care delivered is appropriate for the needs of the patient group. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide specialist education, advice, and support to patients their families, and carers, this will include professionals in other agencies, promoting self-management.
At a local level, the Clinical Nurse Specialist is also responsible for the delivery of education for bladder and bowel continence care, providing nursing expertise, advice, and support in clinical practice to the multi-disciplinary team both within the clinic and community settings.
