Position reports to:

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of ABB pulp-and-paper quality control products at ABB customer facilities under general supervision. This includes performing preventive and corrective maintenance, testing and troubleshooting proprietary ABB hardware and software, and assisting with any projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services for the technician's assigned customer or region.
The work model for the role is onsite – you must be in Macon, GA.
This role contributes to the Process Automation Process Industries Pulp & Paper division.
Responsibilities- Maintain ABB's suite of quality control hardware and software, including cleaning debris from sensors, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues with the frame and sensor package, troubleshooting the computer system and HMI/control software, and maintaining the working state of the entire ABB quality control solution dle customer questions about the state of the ABB system.
- Handle customer service‑related issues while fostering the customer relationship and working to solve technical problems on‑site. Deal directly with, and communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, third‑party vendors, and other ABB personnel in support of service operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment applying own technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Training on ABB products and services will be provided; a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety is required for the training to be beneficial.
- When required, play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers. Coordinate work with other groups to ensure commitments are met.
- Associate’s degree in a related field and 8 years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation, or process control related work/military experience required, or high school diploma and 10 years of related work/military experience required.
- Must know how to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multimeters safely.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude strongly preferred.
- Must be comfortable using basic hand tools.
- Must be able to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment.
- Must know how to identify voltage systems above 240 VAC/870 VDC so they can safely avoid contact.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and utilize them for troubleshooting electrical systems is required.
