What you’ll do:

As our next Diesel Mechanic, you’ll be at the heart of our mission—delivering essential services that help improve public safety, enhance environmental quality, and keep things running smoothly. You’ll join a team that values hard work, safety, and showing up for one another.

Schedule:

Monday‑Friday 8am‑5pm, with occasional evening shifts up to 8pm.

Your Daily Impact (essential functions):

  • Assembly & Build:
    Construct mechanical systems or components based on blueprints, technical specifications, or instructions. Follow proper torque specs, sequences, and ensure all parts are correctly installed.
  • Inspection & Troubleshooting:
    Examine equipment and identify mechanical issues. Visually inspect parts, listen for abnormal sounds, check system performance, and use tools to diagnose issues.
  • Diagnostics & Reporting:
    Use tools and systems (diagnostic software, multimeters) to run tests that determine root causes of malfunctions and maintain accurate records of findings and actions taken.
  • Repairs & Reliability:
    Perform mechanical work to restore function or improve reliability of machines. Replace or repair parts with attention to detail, safety, and long-term durability.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    Perform regularly scheduled maintenance tasks aimed at preventing equipment breakdowns. Check, clean, adjust, and replace parts to extend machinery life.
  • Lubrication & Fluid Handling:
    Manage lubrication and fluids critical to machinery operation. Apply grease/oil, check and replace fluids, and recognize signs of leaks or contamination.
  • Maintenance Advising:
    Communicate clearly with equipment users about maintenance needs, care techniques, and best practices to prevent premature wear or breakdowns.
  • Auxiliary Repairs:
    Perform additional or specialized repair tasks such as hydraulic system maintenance, painting, electrical fixes, or minor body work outside core mechanical repairs.
  • Heavy Equipment:
    Familiarize with servicing and repairing large machinery such as sweepers, loaders, backhoes, and other industrial vehicles, understanding their systems and operating conditions.
  • Regular & Predictable Attendance:
    Consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences. Remain present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3+ years of proven experience as a level C Mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of machinery, hydraulic, electrical, and other mechanical systems.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, shop tools, and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers).
  • Ability to follow established procedures, read instruction manuals, and wiring schematics.
  • Must have basic hand tools for daily use.
  • Commitment to adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong physical stamina and good overall fitness.
  • Positive attitude and reliable attendance.
