Medical Receptionist

Temporary, initially 3 months (potential to extend up to 6 months)

Hours:

Full Time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00

Pay Rate: £12.71 - £13.50 per hour (dependent on experience)

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Medical Receptionist to join a busy healthcare setting in Macclesfield. This is a full-time temporary position initially for 3 months, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months for the right candidate.

This is a front-facing role requiring excellent customer service, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Checking patients in for appointments and updating patient records where required.
  • Providing directions and general assistance to patients and visitors.
  • Managing incoming telephone calls and responding to enquiries.
  • Booking, amending and cancelling appointments.
  • Ensuring patient information is handled confidentially at all times.
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating databases as required.
  • Managing reception and waiting areas to ensure a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Liaising with clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Undertaking general administrative and reception duties to support the wider team.
Person Specification
  • Previous reception, administration, customer service, or medical reception experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and internal computer systems.
  • Professional, approachable, and patient-focused.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
