Position: Booking Team Leader (Internal Only)

This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the 'ECT Family' this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.

We are seeking an organised, proactive and people-focused leader to join our Outpatient Management Team. In this pivotal role, you will support the smooth and efficient delivery of outpatient services across the organisation, ensuring clinics run effectively and patients receive timely appointments.

You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the booking and administrative teams, providing clear leadership, coordinating rotas, and ensuring staff are trained, supported and working to agreed standards. A key part of the role involves managing appointment capacity, maintaining accurate booking systems, and ensuring waiting lists and clinic changes are handled promptly and in line with Trust policies.

You will contribute to service planning, performance monitoring and continuous improvement, producing reports, supporting business planning and helping to deliver cost-effective services.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support the Outpatient Management Team in the effective day-to-day running of all outpatient clinic locations, ensuring services are delivered smoothly and in line with Trust policies. They will oversee the coordination and maintenance of clinic sessions on the booking system, manage appointment capacity, and ensure waiting lists, short-notice changes and cancelled appointments are handled promptly and accurately. The role includes providing visible leadership to the administrative and booking teams, managing rotas, supervising daily workload, conducting appraisals, identifying training needs and supporting staff development to maintain high standards of performance.

The post-holder will contribute to business planning, service development and performance monitoring by producing reports, supporting financial reviews and helping to deliver cost-improvement initiatives. They will ensure patient activity is recorded efficiently, liaise with internal departments to resolve booking queries, respond to complaints where appropriate, and maintain effective communication with staff and service users.
