Senior Planner

John Sisk and Son is recruiting at Macclesfield for a post it advertises as Senior Planner and describes throughout its body as a Lead Planner. The work is planning and programme management across a busy and growing construction framework in a live, highly regulated environment, running several project programmes at once from pre-construction through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

Framework experience is stated as a requirement, together with the ability to work across a portfolio of projects at different stages with competing priorities and stakeholders.

As the framework grows the holder is to manage and develop a growing team of planners, allocate planning resources by workload and project priority, support recruitment and onboarding, and set consistent planning standards, processes, templates and reporting across the framework. The advert states plainly that this is not a programme updating role.

The holder is expected to challenge project teams and subcontractors, test programme logic, identify emerging programme risks and drive mitigation and recovery strategies.

Other named duties are establishing programme structures, work breakdown structures, logic, dependencies and milestones, assuring the quality of programmes produced by the team, integrating design deliverables, surveys and approvals into project programmes, and bringing procurement schedules, subcontractor lead times and manufacturing periods into the programme. No salary and no closing date are published. The employer's own advert spells the town Maccelsfield.
