R&D Engineer – Mechanical or Electrical Bias

I am supporting a well‑established engineering manufacturer (part of a larger international technology group) as they expand their R&D team.

They are hiring two R&D Engineers – one mechanically biased and one electrically biased – to support a major technology transfer programme from mainland Europe into the UK, alongside ongoing product development.

This role sits between design and manufacturing, focused on turning engineering concepts into reliable, production‑ready machinery.

• Supporting new product introduction & technology transfer
• Developing and improving machinery for manufacture
• Testing, validation and problem solving
• Working closely with design, production and engineering teams

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience
• Background in machinery, automation or equipment development
• A strong practical / process engineering mindset
• Comfortable solving real‑world engineering problems (not purely desk‑based)

Mechanical bias: mechanisms, materials handling, assemblies, reliability

Electrical bias: controls hardware, sensors, drives, integration

• Genuine development engineering (not maintenance/support)
