Electrical Lead – Pharma
We have an opportunity for an Electrical Lead to join a Life Science team in Macclesfield. The role reports to the Project Director and works in close partnership with the MEP Lead and Engineering Management team, providing technical and managerial leadership to ensure all electrical works are designed, installed, tested and commissioned to the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.
Responsibilities- Lead the electrical team and oversee delivery of all electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, fire alarms and life safety systems.
- Ensure all electrical works meet programme, cost and quality objectives.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure effective delivery.
- Develop and implement strategies for electrical execution, resource allocation and planning.
- Review and approve electrical design documents, technical submittals and material selections.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards and regulations (e.g. IEC, BS, IEEE, NFPA).
- Oversee FATs, SATs, commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) for electrical scope.
- Support validation and handover processes with accurate documentation and system certification.
- Drive health, safety and environmental compliance across all electrical works.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control procedures for electrical systems.
- Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Act as the primary point of contact for electrical scope with clients, consultants and regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, process, instrumentation and BMS teams to ensure project integration.
- Lead electrical coordination meetings and provide accurate reporting on progress, risks and opportunities to project leadership.
- Strong technical expertise in electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, critical power systems and life safety systems.
- Proven leadership experience on large‑scale construction or engineering projects.
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage complex workloads.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels of delivery.
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements for electrical works.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in leading electrical delivery on Tier1 construction or engineering projects.
- Relevant health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS or equivalent).
- Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centre or advanced technology projects.
- Knowledge of commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) in regulated environments.
- Familiarity with BIM and digital project delivery tools.
- Commercial awareness including contract administration and cost control.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional membership (e.g. Engineers Ireland, IET, CIBSE).
- Postgraduate qualification in project management or construction management.
- Vendor‑specific training or certification in switch gear, UPS, or critical power systems.
- Training in GMP, cleanroom or other regulatory compliance relevant to life sciences and technology sectors.
