The Site Chemist role is based at IWS Cheshire, Road Beta, Brooks Lane, Middlewich, Cheshire, CW10 0QF
. It is a 40‑hour week with an alternating weekly shift pattern (Early 06:00‑15:00, Late 09:00‑18:00). The primary responsibility is to conduct acceptance analysis on incoming waste, ensure proper storage on site, and manage waste dispatch.

Responsibilities
  • Accept hazardous and non‑hazardous wastes on site per IMS
    6.03 (E) Bookings and Acceptance, including packaged waste and bulk tankers; conduct conformance checks and analysis.
  • Raise Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) on incoming waste per IMS
    6.04(E) Waste Non‑Conformance and liaise with Commercial Account Managers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliant storage of wastes per IMS
    6.05(E) Storage and Segregation.
  • Assist Site Operators with waste handling and packaging per IMS
    6.06(E) Waste Handling and Packaging Processing.
  • Select and prepare waste for dispatch (packaged and bulk) per IMS
    6.07(E) Scheduling and Dispatch.
  • Complete all tasks in accordance with the Integrated Management System and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Any specialised activities must follow the relevant IMS procedure and instructions.

The Site Chemist must be qualified to at least an HNC in Chemistry (or a relevant scientific field).

Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous hazardous waste management experience (over 1 year).
  • Awareness of HSG 71 – Chemical warehousing; HSG 51 – Storage of flammable liquids in containers; S5.06 Guidance for the Recovery and Disposal of Hazardous and Non‑Hazardous Waste;
    Technical Guidance WM3 Waste Classification.
  • ADR/CODG awareness training.
Advantageous Qualifications
  • First Aid at Work Certificate.
  • ADR Licence.
