Job OverviewWe are looking for a Band 6 Clinical Lead to join our established team in our modern Dementia Assessment Unit in Macclesfield. Silk Ward is a 15‑bed mixed gender ward providing specialist inpatient assessment and treatment for people with Dementia.
ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a Registered Nurse with a passion for Dementia care, development of services and systems, and knowledge of supervision and audit processes. The ideal applicant will also have a good understanding of the leadership style required to be part of a ward leadership team to support the Ward Manager in delivering a high‑quality mental health service.
The role will involve working within set objectives which reflect the direction of the service and the Trust, providing clinical leadership within the ward team to promote a high standard of patient care, and providing management support, deputising for the Ward Manager in their absence.
- Source of expertise for clinical practice for the care team. Able to demonstrate a high level of patient care through role‑modelling and supervision.
- Undertake audit of evidence‑based interventions to ensure continued best practice.
- Engage with MDT to ensure holistic patient‑centred care planning.
- Assess, evaluate and advise staff on care planning and discharge planning.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the identification and management of risk.
- Develop ways to improve efficiency and patient care.
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse RMN or RNLD
- Evidence of continued professional development

- High level of clinical expertise
- Understanding and appreciation of national policy and health/social care issues
- Clear understanding of social inclusion/equality/diversity
- Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries
- Knowledge of cultural diversity within the healthcare setting
- Awareness of current mental health issues, debates and practice
- Knowledge and understanding of physical health needs
- A willingness to undertake further training
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the MHA and MCA
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working in a multi‑disciplinary environment
- Supervision experience
- Working with service users with severe mental health problems utilising user/carer involvement

- Secure services experience
