Same Day Emergency Care Charge Nurse - Band 6

We are seeking an organised, motivated and proactive Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our team. The post holder will play a key role in coordinating day-to-day operational activities, supporting service delivery and ensuring effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.

The Band 6 Charge Nurse will be responsible for managing workflows, monitoring performance against service targets and supporting the implementation of service improvements. They will act as a central point of contact for staff, patients and external partners, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with organisational policies and standards.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. They will support team members, contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.

This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively to maintain high standards of patient care and service delivery.

Hours per week: 36 (24 hours permanent and 12 hours fixed term until February 2027)

You will be designated to take charge of the department on a regular basis.

You will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient and nursing staff activities.

You will be required to provide support to the Ward Manager and Matron, participating fully in the development of initiatives which support the improvement of patient care.

You will be required to take responsibility as the named Nurse for a defined group of patients in Emergency Department. The post holder will work with minimal supervision in the assessment of all relevant care needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of programme of care.
