Introduction to Role
The Global Clinical Supply Chain function is accountable for the supply of medicines to AstraZeneca’s clinical trials across the world. Our company’s portfolio of emerging new medicines means the portfolio of clinical trials that is essential topatientsand our future success continues to grow with the aim of delivering 20 new medicines by 2030.
Reporting to the Director for Data Governance for Clinical Supply Chain, this role is fundamental in defining and implementing data standards, business rules, and governance frameworks to ensure high-quality, compliant, and well‑managed data across clinical supply chain operations. Also, the role requires embedding and maintaining governance processes including Data Quality reporting and issue resolution. This ensures data can be used to inform insights, decisions, and value.
As the Data Governance Specialist, you will work closely with the Business Process Owners, Process Experts, and Operational Teams managing investigational medicinal products. The role will also collaborate with the Operations Data Office to ensure alignment with enterprise data policies and standards, and with the R&D Data Office to ensure that data consumed from R&D is defined, understood and fit for purpose.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities- Define and maintain data standards and business rules for critical master and reference data in the clinical supply chain.
- Act as data steward internally and externally of Clinical Supply chain, driving quality, consistency, and continuous improvement to support our supply chain processes.
- Develop and maintain the Clinical Supply Chain data catalogue to secure visibility, traceability, and oversight of data assets. Employ the application of Enterprise tools to strengthen and extend Data Lineage, CVs, and Ontologies for key Clinical Supply Chain data.
- Maintain existing data quality dashboards and develop future data quality dashboards.
- Play a key role in employing Operations data quality tooling for Clinical Supply Chain.
- Partner with business and process owners to embed data governance best practices across clinical supply chain operations.
- Own and define governance indicators and DQ metrics, with the ability to present these insights and performance indicators clearly to senior leadership team.
- Develop and deliver data governance training to support Clinical Supply Chain journey towards Data Excellence.
- Experience working within a clinical supply chain or clinical operations environment.
- Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data management principles and processes.
- Strong analytical experience and usage of Power
BI. - Skilled in Python or similar advanced scripting languages and intermediate to advanced Excel capability.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Awareness of GxP, data integrity and security, and compliance requirements in a regulated environment.
- Experience with data cataloguing tools (e.g., Collibra) and data quality/observability tools.
- Experience using JIRA for Sprint planning.
- Data Querying (SQL Oracle)
- Microsoft Visio experience (or other diagrammatic tools).
- Knowledge of data modelling techniques (conceptual, logical, physical).
