An accountable, motivated Housekeeper for East Cheshire NHS Trust's Emergency Department. Grade:
Band 3 (NHS AfC).
Contract:
Permanent, full time 37.5 hours per week (flexible), located in Macclesfield District (Victoria Road, Macclesfield). Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum (pro‑rated, subject to job matching). Closing date: 09/07/2026 23:59.
We need a person who can deliver efficient housekeeping services in a fast‑moving emergency ward, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff. The role involves working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and providing support where needed.
Responsibilities- Manage housekeeping duties on the ward, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Disseminate good practice to ward teams so that service levels are maintained in their absence.
- Provide an efficient housekeeping service, ensuring that a friendly, welcoming, clean, organised, safe and comfortable working environment is provided for patients, visitors and staff.
- Support the team with training, professional development and participate in audits and checks to promote infection prevention and control standards.
- Vocational Level 3 (willingness to undertake mandatory training).
- Communication: clear, confident, courteous communication with a diverse audience.
- Leadership: give instructions and guidance to colleagues and supervise or coordinate staff.
- Problem‑solving: recognise issues, prioritise tasks and take appropriate action.
- Organisation: manage own workload and coordinate tasks for others.
- Physical: meet the physical demands of the role in line with health and safety requirements.
- Housekeeping or cleaning services experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Supervision or coordination of staff.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards.
- Experience of monitoring standards or completing audits or checklists.
- A completed enhanced DBS check with barred lists; cost payable by the candidate.
- If worked abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years, an overseas police clearance is required.
