Casual Janitor

Responsible for day-to-day security, cleaning and maintenance of the library building, and supervision of on-site library contractors.

This is a casual position, with no fixed hours. We require ad hoc cover for absences.

Macclesfield Library is a large, historic building, with multiple meeting rooms, hired out to the public, corporate, council and community groups.

In this role, you will be dealing with the public, in person, maintaining safe working spaces, being responsible for a beautiful, listed building, from key holding to assisting contractors, to occasional cleaning, it all comes under the remit of a casual janitor. You may also be asked to take part in Health and Safety activities and monitoring, such as fire alarm testing.

We are looking for a friendly and positive person, who enjoys working as part of a team, and doesn't mind covering shifts out of hours, where you may be the only team member on site with meeting room hirers.

We need someone with the energy and enthusiasm to deliver excellent customer service to our users, and who will work well with colleagues.
