POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER

City of Macedonia, Ohio – City Center, 9691 Valley View Road

No prior experience or academy necessary. Paid academy training available for successful candidates after appointment.

Applications available. Accrued time transfers for lateral officers with police experience.

• Wage (2026) range: $33.37 - $40.07/hour, depending on prior comparable law enforcement experience
• Paid peace officer academy training available, conditioned upon signing a two‑year agreement which includes reimbursement to City if separation occurs within two years of completion of FTO training
• Accrued time may be transferred for candidates with police experience
• Contract includes $1.50 per hour night shift differential
• Other benefits: medical, dental, vision and life coverage. Prior service:
  Any appointment transferring from another public agency to Macedonia as a full‑time police officer shall be credited with unused balance of their accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of 960 sick hours.

• U.S. citizen
• High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least 21 years of age
• Current and valid Ohio driver’s license (documentation required)
• Pass the Frontline National examination via National Testing Network; score must be at least 70%.
• Additional credit: up to 20 points for prior police experience, certification, education, or military service (documentation required).
• Physical Agility test certificate accepted (OPOTC or Tri‑C).
• Eligible candidates must complete psychological, physical, polygraph, EKG, drug screening, background check, and interview. Must be non‑smoker.
