Applications are available in person at Macedonia City Center - Police Dispatch, located at 9691 Valley View Road, Macedonia, Ohio 44056. Completed applications can be submitted via e-mail, U.S. mail, or hand-delivery until the position is filled or the City closes the application period.
The duties of this role include operating radio, answering and transmitting emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for Macedonia and several other communities, and computer data entry (CAD). Applicants must be willing to work shifts, including weekends and holidays. The shift differential is $1.00 per hour from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and $1.50 per hour from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The salary range is subject to collective bargaining agreement, currently $24.57-$30.57/hour, depending on prior comparable police and fire dispatch experience. Benefits include hospitalization, dental and vision insurance, prescription coverage, paid vacation time, 15 sick days per year, 13 holidays per year, uniform allowance, and a multi-jurisdictional bonus.
Minimum Qualifications- Applicants must be currently or within the past 12 months employed as a full-time Classified Civil Service Police, Fire & EMS Dispatcher.
- Applicants must hold current LEADS and EMD certifications.
- Experience with T.A.C. Cad system is preferred but not required.
Eligible candidates are required to take psychological, physical, and polygraph tests, as well as drug screening and a background check. A personal interview with the appointing authority is also required. The successful applicant must be a non-smoker and remain a non-smoker for the duration of employment.
