Program Director - Youth Enrichment (Education)
POSITION SUMMARYThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. It provides general administration of Before and After School Enrichment (BASE), Summer Day Camp, Fun & Snow Day programs. The director works directly with support staff to ensure all programs meet and exceed expectations and must understand Y member engagement strategies, fundraising, and new program development.
The director will incorporate caring, honesty, faith, respect and responsibility into all aspects of the program.

- Create a vibrant cause‑centered culture for staff and volunteers.
- Oversee Before and After School Education (BASE) programs including multiple off‑site locations, days off school, day camp, and snow day programs; develop curriculum and lessons to meet or exceed school content standards; order materials and maintain relationships with school leaders.
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, coach and evaluate staff; lead and supervise the assistant child care director; plan and conduct monthly staff meetings.
- Stay current with State Licensing requirements and meet standards set by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.
- Create and facilitate informational materials and brochures for promotional and public relations use in conjunction with branch marketing plans.
- Use techniques and strategies for involving members and guests as volunteers; implement Parent Volunteer committee.
- Seek member/participant feedback through regular evaluations; implement corrective strategies as needed.
- Support the philanthropic efforts of the YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign.
- Develop, administer and control all program department budgets to meet or exceed targets; continually secure new funding sources; follow the collection policy.
- Maintain cleanliness, upkeep and organization of all areas, including off‑site locations.
- Actively participate in branch planning processes; monitor child payment records, purchasing procedures, financial aid, publicly funded childcare, USDA, daily attendance, volunteer database, volunteer hours, staff records and payroll.
- Ensure the safety of staff, members and program participants using resources from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, our property and liability insurance provider, and other applicable risk‑management partners.
- Maintain and actively foster positive relationships with parents, children, stakeholders, the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, and YMCA staff.
- Actively participate in the ECE focus group (monthly) and branch leadership staff team (bi‑weekly); support team projects, active participation in groups, and other assignments as delegated by supervisor.

- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Screen employees and volunteers for abuse risk according to policies and procedures.
- Train, supervise, and require adherence of employees and volunteers to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback about boundaries with consumers.
- Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations.
- Respond quickly and seriously to all reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
- Communicate the YMCA’s commitment to abuse prevention.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
