Emphasis in prevention of athletic injuries/illnesses, evaluation of athletic injuries/illnesses and medical referral, first aid and emergency care, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and counseling and guidance. Basic reading and math skills. Clerical, record keeping, medical terminology and patient care skills, CPR, knowledge of regulatory standards, safety and infection control, and hospital procedures. Basic interpersonal skills. Effective communication and telephone etiquette, and the ability to function productively and cooperatively as part of a team.
Exhibit excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers. Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect at all time.
- Expected pay for this position is $22.76-$34.14. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

- Provides athletic screenings in the schools, hospital, and outpatient facility according to the principles and practices of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team including physicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.
- Provides training guidelines and modification for athletes and coaches.
- Makes recommendations to athletes, coaches, parents, and physicians regarding an athlete's injury.
- Provides game coverage.
- Provides rehabilitation under guidance of licensed therapist.
- Plans, organizes, and implements specific medically prescribed cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
- Vital role on Cardia/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team as exercise specialist.
- Graduate of an accredited program for athletic trainers.
- Licensure in Illinois or eligibility for licensure is required.
- Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association is required.
- Clinic and field experience is preferred.
- Current CPR certification, telemetry training, and progress toward ACLS certification is required.
- Verbal ability is necessary to communicate with department and hospital staff as well as patients, athletes, coaches, etc.
- A preference for working with people, as in developing programs of greatest therapeutic benefit to each patient/athlete, watching progress carefully and adjusting programs to continue challenging the patient.
- A preference for people and for communicating ideas, in encouraging creativity, initiative, ingenuity, and resourcefulness.
- Ability to comply with department specific controls implemented to reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections within the Healthcare setting.
- These controls may include but are not limited to, immunity to certain vaccine preventable disease, screening for tuberculosis infection or disease, the ability to utilize indicated personal protective equipment and attendance at appropriate training.
