Compensation and Benefits
- Expected pay for this position is $35.50-$56.80. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

Under the direction of the Director of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation the Wound Resource Nurse serves as a clinical resource and consultant for the hospital nursing units, rehabilitation service, referred outpatients for the care of patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal and integumentary systems, such as complex draining wounds, ostomies, fistulas, dermal ulcers and tubes. Clinical services may include hands‑on care as well as education and counseling to the patient and his or her significant others.
Education and Experience- Two to four years of relevant and recent nursing experience preferred.
- CPR Required.
- Comprehensive knowledge and skill in current nursing practice.
- Must have expertise in caring for clients with wound and ostomy related needs.
- The patient populations must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
- Ability to organize, manage and function to provide nursing care based on scientific principles, basic behavioral concepts, and intelligent professional judgment.
- Ability to recognize the need for adjustment and flexibility in nursing care functions so as to maintain quality nursing care in all types of situations.
- Ability to exercise leadership coupled with tolerance and understanding as well as with appreciation and respect for the special abilities and skills of others.
- Ability to accept and constructively utilize supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with individuals and families.
- Preferences for dealing with people, recognizing their needs, and expressing concern for same.
- Possess the ability to instruct and act as a resource person.
- Capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, physicians, patients, families, and others, enlisting support and cooperation from same.
- Ability to incorporate teaching/learning principles and adapt teaching to all age groups.
- Successfully completes orientation, participates in departmental in services and demonstrates competency by completing the specific competency testing/evaluation program, as appropriate to the Wound Resource Nurse role. Continuing education programs are designed to augment the staff's knowledge of pertinent developments in patient care and to foster a performance improvement environment.
- Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
