Position: Field Quality Manager (Wind / Renewables)

Overview

Field Quality Manager (Wind / Renewables) at IEA Constructors LLC, a Mas Tec Company. Responsible for serving as the primary onsite quality support to all team members and the crafts by managing the development and implementation of the Site-Specific Quality Plan and by researching/answering questions regarding quality. The Field Quality Manager (FQM) is a member of the project management team, is able to work with minimal supervision and takes the lead role in managing project quality and establishing the expected level of workmanship.

This position requires the incumbent to develop thorough knowledge of the project and schedule as they apply to QA/QC.

Location, Travel & Project Details

You will travel across the US to support renewable projects. This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time. You may be placed on a project site located in any state. Typical project durations are 8-12 months with designated daily per diem and base pay to support living expenses. A company vehicle and fuel card are provided. Routine travel home from the jobsite is eligible.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Manage the Site-Specific Quality Plan to ensure products and services meet predefined quality standards and client expectations
  • Read and understand plans and specifications and interpret them for the field
  • Develop a thorough understanding of contract plans and specifications for assigned work
  • Examine/inspect field conditions, identify problems, and implement corrective actions to improve quality and reduce costs
  • Inspect subordinates’ work for compliance and guide corrective actions as needed
  • Solicit and evaluate feedback from employees and supervisors to devise and implement quality improvements
  • Monitor installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and required adjustments
  • Produce quality work that meets plans, specifications and industry standards
  • Maintain knowledge of Mas Tec Quality Control Manual and supporting procedures
  • Mentor and train QA/QC inspectors as needed
  • Prepare and review the Monthly Project Quality Report with the Site Manager and Divisional Quality Manager
  • Facilitate Site-Specific Quality Plan implementation and participate in weekly quality status meetings
  • Plan and perform field inspections and tests aligned with construction schedule
  • Conduct weekly quality audits for each project scope
  • Ensure timely testing, receipt and interpretation of results to minimize impact from failures
  • Provide training on project-specific quality processes and requirements
  • Provide QA/QC input to task planning and, when required, develop written instructions and procedures for project activities
  • Organize and maintain project and corporate QA/QC files
  • Review/approve third-party test results for project compliance
  • Collaborate with field staff to issue Quality Alerts, nonconformances and corrective actions
  • Coach Field Engineers on quality requirements
  • Support apprentices with coaching and skill development
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Education and Work Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in quality, industrial technology, engineering, construction, welding, or related technical field
  • Two years of quality experience in construction or operations; experience with civil, electrical, or mechanical activities preferred
  • Trade certifications in testing, inspecting, etc. preferred
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Commitment to health and safety and adherence to Zero Injury principles
  • Self-starter with organizational, managerial and leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of construction industry codes (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of crafts and their inspection/testing techniques
  • Familiarity with quality metrics, lean kaizen, and continuous improvement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation software
