We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Bookkeeper to own day‑to‑day accounting, inventory cost control, and margin analysis within a high‑mix, high‑precision production environment. You will quickly master our ERP/financial platform (Passport Business Solutions ) and partner with Sales, Operations, and Purchasing to deliver timely, decision‑grade financial data that drives profitability.
About Pyrotechnic Specialties Inc .PSI is a leading energetics and ammunition‑components manufacturer supplying Tier‑1 defense contractors and commercial OEMs. Following a recent expansion to 800+ acres and a new 50,000sqft facility, we are scaling production, optimizing cost structures, and modernizing our back‑office systems to support double‑digit growth.
Key Responsibilities- Full‑Cycle Bookkeeping
— A/R, A/P, GL entries, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, month‑end close, and journal adjustments specific to job‑order manufacturing. - Cost Accounting Support
— Maintain standard costs, track labor and overhead absorption, and reconcile WIP and finished‑goods inventory. - Margin Monitoring
— Produce weekly margin reports by SKU, customer, and work center; flag variances and partner with functional leaders to implement corrective actions. - ERP/Software Administration
— Become the in‑house expert on Passport Business Solutions ; design workflows, user permissions, and custom reports that improve data integrity. - Compliance & Audit Prep
— Ensure GAAP compliance, prepare audit schedules, support tax filings, and maintain documentation for DoD and ITAR requirements. - Process Improvement
— Recommend and implement controls that reduce cycle times, eliminate manual touchpoints, and enhance cash forecasting accuracy.
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience in a discrete or process‑manufacturing setting (defense, aerospace, chemicals, machining, or similar).
- Demonstrated proficiency with cost‑accounting concepts: BOMs, routings, standard vs. actual cost, overhead allocation.
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling) and familiarity with mid‑market ERP/financial systems.
- Strong reconciliation skills and a track record of meeting tight month‑end close deadlines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for work on defense‑related projects (U.S. Person per ITAR).
- Analyst background (FP&A, operations finance, or pricing) with experience translating data into actionable insights.
- Prior use of Passport Business Solutions or similar manufacturing ERP (e.g., Epicor, JobBOSS, Global Shop).
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CMA coursework a plus.
