Position SummaryWe are seeking a full-time Tax and Audit Accountant to join our team in Downtown Macon. This position offers the opportunity to work across both tax and audit engagements while developing strong technical skills and meaningful client relationships.
We prefer candidates with at least three years of tax and/or audit experience. However, we are willing to provide training and mentorship to the right candidate who demonstrates a strong accounting foundation, attention to detail, professionalism, and a desire to learn.
ResponsibilitiesThe Tax and Audit Accountant will:
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Assist with tax planning, research, and responses to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Assist in planning and performing financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Perform audit procedures, including internal control testing and financial data analysis.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare clear, accurate work papers and engagement documentation.
- Work directly with clients to obtain information and resolve tax- and audit-related questions.
- Collaborate with team members to complete engagements accurately and on time.
- Stay current on applicable tax laws and accounting and auditing standards.
- Participate in firm training and professional development opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- 3+ years of relevant experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- CPA license or CPA eligibility preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Willingness to travel to client locations as needed.
