Administrative Assistant I – Forensics Unit
This Administrative Assistant I position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Forensics Unit of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with the development, submission, and monitoring of the yearly Forensic budget.
- Order all supplies and equipment for multiple Crime Lab locations following established guidelines.
- Develop and maintain an inventory system for multiple forensic locations, ensuring minimum quantities are maintained.
- Assist crime lab personnel with all travel arrangements and training registrations.
- Prepare daily and monthly reports and summaries for all relevant meetings.
- Utilize spreadsheets to track and maintain inventory and other statistical data.
- Utilize internal financial software to enter requisitions and process orders.
- Maintain Department files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years of experience in administrative support; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Special Requirements- Must pass the BASIC level of the Macon‑Bibb County skills test.
- Must type 35 words per minute.
- Possession of a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Knowledge of local government administration principles.
- Knowledge of budgetary preparation procedures.
- Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Windows NT network, and email services.
- Strong written communication skills; ability to develop clear reports, memoranda, directives, and letters.
- Ability to develop comprehensive plans from general instructions.
- Ability to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to work effectively with other employees, elected officials, private organizations, and the public.
