Job SummaryThe Middle Georgia State University Music Program invites applications for an Adjunct Guitar Instructor beginning spring 2026. We are seeking an experienced, student-centered educator who is passionate about developing the next generation of musicians in a dynamic and growing program.
Responsibilities- Teaching applied guitar lessons to music majors and non-majors
- Coaching chamber groups or commercial ensembles as needed
- Participating in juries and contributing to student assessment
- Collaborating with faculty to support student success and program growth
- Potential opportunities for additional courses depending on experience and departmental needs
Required Educational Qualifications
Master’s degree in music or a closely related field required
Required Experience
Successful teaching experience at the collegiate or pre-collegiate level
Other Required Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in guitar performance (classical, jazz, commercial, or contemporary styles are all welcome)
Strong communication skills and a commitment to mentoring students
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctoral degree in music
Preferred Experience
Experience teaching in-person and online
Other Preferred Qualifications
Ability to connect students with music industry professionals
Qualified to teach MUSC 1006 Perspectives on Music & Society, MUSC 1100 Music Appreciation and MUSC 4250 Survey of the Entertainment Industry
