Ultrasound Technician – OB/GYN Medical Office at Atrium Health Navicent
Location: Navicent Health Medical Center – Anderson Health Center
Status: Full time |
Hours per week: 40 |
Schedule: Monday through Friday |
Pay Range: $37.50 – $56.25 per hour
- Position, transfer, and immobilize patients to obtain optimal quality scans.
- Operate portable ultrasound equipment throughout the hospital as required.
- Assist physicians by recommending technical factor selections for procedures.
- Document departmental records, inventory supplies, and maintain patient records.
- Prepare ultrasound rooms and ensure equipment and supplies are available before procedures.
- Utilize hospital computer systems to manage patient history and imaging data.
- Obtain pertinent medical history from patients and provide context to radiologists.
- Collaborate with radiologists to achieve optimal study outcomes.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with patients and colleagues.
- Adhere to established hospital safety standards and practices.
- Maintain annual CPR certification and operate equipment safely per policy.
- Use universal precautions to protect self and others from bodily fluid exposure.
- Stay current with emerging ultrasound techniques and technologies.
- Instruct and assist student technologists and fellow technologists in the ultrasound laboratory.
- Report patient safety events and near misses promptly.
- Follow all behavioral and procedural patient safety practices.
- Promote a culture of safety, identifying threats and intervening to prevent harm.
- Communicate openly and encourage teamwork to address safety concerns.
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- Eligible for ARDMS registry with a minimum of 1 year of clinical scanning experience.
- APRMS Registered (or ARDMS registry eligible within 24 months of graduation).
- Current CPR certification.
- High degree of technical knowledge to perform specialized ultrasound studies independently.
- Strong ability to communicate with patients and reinforce age‑appropriate concepts.
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic medical records.
- Adjust to flexible hours and occasional on‑call duties.
- Stand for long periods and view a video display during examinations.
- Lift patients or equipment up to 35 lbs; use lifting equipment for heavier loads as required.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and be prepared for odd hours.
