Outpatient Orthopedic Occupational Therapist – Ortho Georgia, Macon

Join Innovative Therapy Concepts (ITC) to provide outpatient orthopedic occupational therapy services s full‑time role supports a diverse caseload of shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand diagnosis, including custom splint fabrication and occupational therapy for surgical and non‑operative patients.

Responsibilities
  • Review physician’s referral and patient medical records to determine required occupational therapy treatment.
  • Test and measure patient strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
  • Plan and prepare written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data.
  • Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises to improve strength, ROM, flexibility, and cardiovascular function.
  • Instruct, motivate and assist patients to perform activities to achieve functional goals.
  • Instruct, motivate and assist patients in using assistive and supportive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes and prostheses.
  • Administer treatments involving physical agents, including hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, TENS, taping, massage and other modalities.
  • Evaluate treatment effects at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in patient chart or computer.
  • Instruct patient and family on home treatment procedures.
  • Evaluate, fit and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modifications to orthotist.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest program revisions and integrate occupational therapy with overall health care.
  • Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants, techs, and students.
  • Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on occupational therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups.
  • Consult with and practice alongside other health professionals (physicians, dentists, nurses, educators, social workers, physical therapists, speech‑language pathologists, audiologists).
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may include supervising therapy assistants or techs in some situations.
