Overview

The Industrial Athletic Trainer supports workplace health, safety, and injury prevention through ergonomic guidance, employee education, and wellness initiatives. It involves developing safety programs, conducting pre-construction reviews, and ensuring OSHA and company policy compliance. The trainer tracks incidents, supports workers’ compensation management, and collaborates with project teams to reduce risks and promote a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Injury Prevention, Ergonomics, & Wellness:
    Educate employees on proper body mechanics, ergonomics, and safe work practices; implement strategies to address ergonomic risks and reduce injury risk; promote wellness initiatives and events; provide resources and guidance for safe, healthy, productive work habits.
  • Safety Program Implementation & Compliance:
    Assist with the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and pre-construction safety plans in alignment with OSHA regulations and company standards; conduct pre-construction project reviews and site visits; provide safety signage, barriers, and equipment to prevent hazards; partner with branch teams to ensure safety equipment is available and in good working condition; monitor industry trends to identify new safety initiatives.
  • Incident Management & Reporting:
    Document and track incidents, accidents, and injuries; investigate accidents to identify root causes and communicate findings to management; assist with workers’ compensation claims management with supervisors; prepare documentation for accident reports and investigations.
  • Collaboration, Training, & Continuous Improvement:
    Partner with project teams to identify hazards and develop elimination strategies; evaluate work environments and recommend improvements; support training to ensure compliance with safety policies in a construction environment; foster a safety culture built on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:
    Pre-plan and identify methods to eliminate hazards daily by task; observe and address unsafe practices; uphold safety as a core company goal and promote zero-accident aims; encourage open communication between field and office regarding safety concerns and PPE needs.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-, wellness-, or exercise-related field (Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Health Promotions, etc.) preferred
  • Proper certification/licensure (e.g., Certified Athletic Trainer, Kinesiologist, Exercise Physiologist, Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistant)
  • Prior experience involving safety preferred
  • Prior experience in the electrical or construction field preferred
Experience, Skill And Abilities
  • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
  • Office environment with sitting and standing; travel to various work sites required, exposure to outdoor elements, noise, and need to stand and walk.
