Overview
7HT Heart Tower – Medical Cardiology unit on the 7th floor, 30-bed unit, focused on patients with acute and chronic heart disease including congestive heart failure and cardiology patients requiring diagnostic testing and interventions for atrial fibrillation and other dysrhythmias. Also provides care to med/surg overflow patients.
ResponsibilitiesThe RN Lead provides direct supervision, coaching, mentoring and leadership and overall responsibility for the functioning of an assigned shift on a clinical unit according to the State Board of Nursing guidelines and AMA Code of Ethics. Serves as the Charge Nurse and provides professional nursing care (direct and indirect) on the assigned unit. Collaborates with other health care disciplines to provide a continuum of care, participates in the Integrated model of care, and rounds daily with the interdisciplinary team to plan for the next level of care.
Provides guidance and direction to subordinate staff for organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling activities for patient care. Accountable for assisting in financial planning and control, nursing standards, nursing care plans, nursing performance reviews, and quality assurance for assigned areas. Responsible for human resource management on the assigned shift, assists with unit goals and ensures they are operational. Assists with training activities to meet identified educational needs within the department.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Minimum 6 months experience as a Clinical Nurse. Prefer 2 years of experience as a Clinical Nurse and 6 months of experience functioning as a Charge Nurse.
- Must have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to think analytically and work independently and as part of a team.
