Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role at a Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Hospital with strong critical care skills and required certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in the Emergency Department of a large hospital setting with 61+ beds
- Level 1 Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
- Patient population includes chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, trauma, mental health, and medical emergencies
- RN to patient ratio is typically 1:4 depending on assigned zone
- 12-hour evening shifts from 3:00 pm to 3:00 am with a 6-week schedule cycle
- Weekend rotation requires 6 weekend shifts within each 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required for major holidays
- No floating outside the Emergency Department
- EMR system is Epic; experience with Alaris pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- Central Telemetry monitoring in the ER
- Primary responsibilities include providing emergency care for a broad range of acute and trauma patients
- Unit receives strong support from CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and a PICC team
- Orientation includes one day of hospital education modules and two days of departmental training
- Required to wear navy scrubs

- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years recent ED RN experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
- Must pass an EKG competency exam (BCR requirement)
- Ability to administer drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- National certification in Emergency Nursing is preferred but not required
- First-time travelers will be considered
