Position Overview
Police Officer – Navicent Non Enterprise Corporate Public Safety. Full-time, 40 hrs per week, nights. Pay range $24.85–$37.30 hourly.
Key Responsibilities- Patrols assigned jurisdiction and observes for unsafe, unsecure, or illegal activity.
- Accomplishes and documents assigned patrols in accordance with established procedure and time frames.
- Ensures that assigned activities occur in accordance with established procedure and time frames.
- Responds to calls for assistance and completes uniform incident reports as appropriate and in compliance with established procedures.
- Appropriately and effectively intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed persons are encountered.
- Communicates in a calm, factual, objective, and courteous manner with all persons with whom communication or collaboration are necessary, and coordinates with community police agencies as appropriate.
- Documents work activities and incidents and completes investigations of any criminal activity occurring within corporate jurisdiction in accordance with established policy and procedure.
- Demonstrates capability of communicating and demonstrating all skills required for the position as assessed through periodic skills assessments, and maintains all training and competency as required to maintain Georgia law enforcement general certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Complete training from Atrium Health that includes Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/De-escalation and defensive tactics within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly, in both oral and written form.
- GPSTC (24.0 hours).
- CPI/Restraint Training.
- P.O.S.T. certification number.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous security, military, law enforcement experience or related field preferred.
- Minimum of four years of employment as a police officer.
- Good decision making and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven performance under stressful situations.
- Responds to all acts of violence in relevant areas and performs investigations and reporting.
- Patrols and controls access to the Emergency Center, provides safety, protection, and screening of persons entering the area.
- Escorts patients to seclusion and T-6 with safety in mind, ensures searches and proper use of restraints and handheld metal detectors.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, the criminal justice system, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and GCIC rules.
- Knowledge of law enforcement standards.
- Skills in operating computers and job-related software programs.
- Skills in developing policies and procedures.
- Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports and to obtain information through interviews.
- Ability to thoroughly investigate violations of departmental policy and state laws.
- Must successfully pass background investigation and drug screen prior to employment.
- Spends majority of time standing or walking with reasonable bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching; may need to run or exert intense physical effort in moving or restraining others.
- Must have adequate visual acuity, hearing, and ability to communicate verbally.
- Completion of approved curriculum in basic law enforcement required.
- Completion of BLS and CPI within first 30 days of employment required.
- Certificate in Law Enforcement.
- Two years of experience in a job requiring public interaction and physical activity preferred.
- Proven comparable patrol experience preferred.
- Base compensation based on qualifications, skills, and experience; includes shift, on‑call, and incentive pay.
