Travel Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Overview

Travel Heavy Equipment Mechanic role at SA Recycling. Responsible for traveling to various company yards to support the Georgia Region with repair of stationary and mobile equipment. Duties include electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics, parts inventory and ordering, report writing, and scheduling. Must have a good driving record and be able to travel throughout the Georgia region. Work is outdoors in varying weather conditions and adhere to Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

• Drive company mechanic truck (manual and automatic) to various yards to support the Georgia region.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Complete routine maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake, etc.) on all Heavy Equipment per manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations.
• Interact with yard General Managers to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs.
• Knowledge with ladders, platforms, catwalks and various tools.
• Safe and proper use of assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Clean up work area at the end of shift; keep work areas neat and orderly.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
• Organize materials to optimize space usage.
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
• Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed and maintain safe, hygienic conditions for all team members.

• Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.
• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Attendance is essential.
• Vocational/Technical degree highly desired.
• Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel maintenance experience highly desired.
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively, understand directions, and use basic math with common sense.
• Construction and welding knowledge a plus.
• Driving a standard size work truck.
