General Summary

The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for installing fire alarm devices, acting as the primary point of contact for device service, and working with customers on integration of related building systems.

  • Electrical background and knowledge of electronic equipment.
  • Low‑voltage background including relays, loops, and inputs/outputs.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems and test equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair systems at the customer location in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • PC skills, including Microsoft Office, Command Prompt, and capacity to learn manufacturer‑specific software.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to read schematics and understand relay logic.
  • Ability to travel to project locations.
  • Edwards Life Safety equipment knowledge preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude.
  • Experience reading blueprints and operational materials.
Mandatory Hiring Requirements
  • References, background check, drug screen testing.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair physical security systems at the customer location in an efficient and timely manner, restoring systems to full functionality.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required by service and maintenance contracts.
  • Troubleshoot issues remotely using provided software and an internet connection.
  • Travel to customer locations throughout Florida and Georgia on a continuous day‑to‑day basis.
  • Work independently to research and resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform special projects and other duties assigned.
  • Assist with other technical support issues as needed.
Position Requirements
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • Post‑secondary certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related position or field.
  • NICET I preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Work in various weather elements—heat, cold, rain, or snow—depending on job location and time of year.
  • Utilize construction site sanitary facilities (porta‑johns).
  • Carry required personal tools at all times.
  • Use ladders, transport and relocate ladders unassisted.
  • Work at heights up to 90 feet on ladders, scaffolds, aerial work platforms, cat walks, and other safe work areas.
  • Work in restricted or confined areas such as network closets and crawl spaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required; night shifts, weekends, and out‑of‑town work may be required.
Required Physical/Mental Functions
  • Comprehension of construction drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Safe use of required power tools.
  • Compliance with safety procedures in the Company Safety Handbook.
  • Operate two‑handed tools (cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools).
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
  • Good hearing and vision (corrected if necessary).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  • Lift objects up to 50 pounds; frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • Tolerate prolonged standing and movement on foot.
  • Climb ladders of all types.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers for full‑day assignments.
