The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for the position of Bus Driver. Under general supervision, controls the operation of a school bus. Employees in this class are responsible for following an assigned route and schedule in the safe and efficient operation of a school bus.

• Operates a school bus in transporting children to and from schools; may transport students on field trips and outings.
• May transport wheelchair‑bound students; assists such students in boarding the bus; lifts and places wheelchairs in a secure position; transports students' medical apparatus.
• Operates vehicle in compliance with state and county laws and departmental regulations.
• Takes precautions to avoid accidents.
• Maintains order among students aboard the bus and reports cases of misbehavior to school officials.
• Assists students who become ill; cleans up as required.
• Completes pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of bus (checks gas, oil, and water daily). Responsible for appearance of assigned vehicle and for reporting mechanical defects to repair shop.
• Keeps records of bus operation and submits required reports; compiles and submits accident report information and reports prolonged traffic delays.
• Attends safety meetings.
• Performs related work as required.
• Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.

• High School Diploma or State‑Approved High School Equivalency.
• Five years experience as a motor vehicle operator with a valid driving license.
• Satisfactory completion of a prescribed pre‑service instructional program within a reasonable period.
• Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively may be considered.

Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License with S and P endorsements.

• 182‑day work year; 5 hours per day.
• Salary Range:
  Grade B45 (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience). The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure; for external candidates the top salary is not a potential starting salary.
