Field Service Technician - Controls - Remote

Your role reports to the Senior Field Service Manager and involves installation, commissioning, training, retrofits, service, and preventative maintenance of equipment.
Responsibilities- Install & commission new systems within the schedule and budget.
- Provide emergency or unscheduled repairs and respond to customer care calls.
- Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections and small repairs.
- Advise during install, service and repair visits; instruct third parties and perform quality reviews.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical and mechanical CAD drawings, P&’s, flow schemes.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports, service reports, time sheets, and expense reports.
- Adhere to JBT Marel dispatch and employee policies.
- Inspect assembled equipment and all operating parts for proper operation.
- Maintain inspection records and recommend modifications to eliminate performance problems.
- Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
- Interact with internal and external project managers during field projects.
- Consult engineering to resolve unusual system problems.
- Communicate with customers regarding commissioning status and daily updates.
- Supervise/train customer or internal employees on testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment.
- Ensure time sheets are signed by the customer and inform them before invoicing additional work.
- Take and respond to customer service, emergency, and breakdown calls during business hours; may take calls after hours.
- Travel approximately 90% of the time, up to 6 weeks at a time.
- 3–5 years of experience as a Field Service Technician (preferred).
- Associates degree, AAS, or equivalent education/work experience.
- Willingness to travel up to 90%, domestically and internationally.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical prints; PLC ladder logic a plus.
- Use of precision measurement instruments.
- Proactive, self‑starter with ability to meet deadlines in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and web‑based databases.
- Experience installing multimillion‑dollar capital equipment products.
- Experience with ultra‑high pressure or water jet cutting machines desired.
- Prior work in a food processing facility desired.
- Valid driver’s license and valid passport.
The estimated annual salary range for this role is $62 K – $84 K.
