Full Charge Bookkeeper

Description We are looking for a Full Charge Bookkeeper to support a retail services organization in Madison Heights, Michigan through a Contract engagement. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities with accuracy and minimal supervision. The position will oversee core financial processes, maintain organized records, and partner with an external accounting resource to help keep reporting and close activities on track.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, verify payment details, and maintain accurate accounts payable records.

- Manage customer billing activity, monitor outstanding balances, and follow up on collections to ensure timely payment.

- Keep financial records current and organized while handling routine bookkeeping transactions across the business.

- Gather employee time and payroll-related information and submit complete data to the payroll provider for processing.

- Perform bank and account reconciliations to confirm transactions are properly recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.

- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks, including preparing supporting documentation and reviewing account activity.

- Coordinate with the company's external accounting partner to support reporting needs, tax-related items, and close processes. Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in full charge bookkeeping or a closely related accounting position.

- Hands-on proficiency with Quick Books Desktop in a business bookkeeping environment.

- Practical experience managing both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

- Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and maintain dependable financial records.

- Working knowledge of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures.

- Familiarity with quarterly tax support activities and coordination with outside accounting resources.

- Strong ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities with limited oversight.
