Second Nature Brands is on a mission to grow from $500M to $1B over the next 3 years through an aggressive combination of M&A and organic growth. Kar Nut Distributors (KND) is Second Nature Brands’ Direct Store Distribution (DSD) business. KND serves a customer base of over 5,000 retail stores in Michigan via 35 distribution routes. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the General Manager of KND will prioritize strategic initiatives to ensure overall performance goals are attained and volume and profit objectives are exceeded for the Second Nature Brands and Allied product portfolios.
Duties & Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and develop the KND team of 40+ members including district managers, route sales representatives, administrative staff, and CDL drivers.
- Drive the execution of Second Nature Brands’ vision to surpass annual growth, profitability, cash flow, and business goals.
- Promote and maintain a positive rapport with all customers to achieve company goals by cultivating respect, support, and business partnering.
- Lead the customer planning process for the business, inclusive of fiscal responsibility, and coordinate the trade planning process.
- Own customer performance vs. plan, forecast accuracy, and delivery of monthly and annual revenue objectives.
- Leverage data and analytical thinking to develop insights critical to making smart decisions in pursuit of long‑term business value.
- Implement programs that meet customer requirements and ensure Second Nature Brands’ prominence.
- Create presentations, promotions, forecasts, planograms, and “shows” for the assigned accounts.
- Drive agenda around retailer‑specific packs, and marketing mix to support new product and packaging launches.
- Conduct store checks and report on in‑store merchandising of Second Nature Brands’ products and competitive programs.
- Manage third‑party branded items and allied product relationships and inventory.
- Manage building and fleet maintenance; manage fleet inventory audits.
- Work closely with IT Department around SAP and IT solutions to drive efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
- 10+ years of customer and/or sales, marketing experience in the CPG industry, including selling, negotiating, and leveraging insights to translate brand strategies into engaging customer strategies.
- Experience working within a consumer‑focused, brand‑centric organization.
- Exceptional customer‑facing experience and capabilities to deliver planned objectives and penetrate senior levels.
- Proven track record of successfully defining and delivering innovative, disruptive ideas to drive long‑term business results.
- Knowledgeable in analyzing data to drive strategic planning, implementation, and sales across multiple distribution channels.
- Experience developing metrics, discipline, and technology that enable managerial rigor and drive accountability.
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, teamwork, and analytical skills.
- Ability to seize opportunities within the market through evaluation, planning, and implementation of sales strategies.
- Exceptional business acumen with an emphasis on best‑in‑class sales and go‑to‑market experience.
- Excellent sales skills including negotiation, account management, strategic selling, category management, and conflict management.
- Superior communication skills, and ability to create compelling narratives for different audiences.
- Visionary, positive, and passionate leader with a sense of urgency to create a sustainable winning culture.
- Results‑oriented with a high accountability mindset, entrepreneurial heart, scrappy; willing to roll‑up‑their‑sleeves and do more than mentioned in the position description.
