Who We Are

At Systematic Manufacturing Inc. (SMI), we don’t just cut metal — we craft solutions that drive industries forward. From aerospace to defense to next-gen consumer products, we work with purpose and precision to deliver mission‑critical components across the U.S.
We believe our people are our greatest asset. That’s why we don’t just hire machinists — we build future leaders. If you’re looking for a place where your craftsmanship is respected, your consistency is noticed, and your career goals are taken seriously — we’re ready for you.

Why This Role Matters

We’re looking for a Second Shift Lead Machinist who thrives on leading by example, mentoring others, and taking pride in doing things right the first time. This is more than a machining job — it’s a growth opportunity for someone who knows mills, lathes, and is open to learning Swiss machining (we’ll teach you!).
You’ll be the cornerstone of our second shift — the go‑to person for decision‑making, troubleshooting, and driving quality through consistency and leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead a small, close‑knit second shift team in day‑to‑day operations
  • Train and support junior machinists — helping them grow their skills, not just get through the day
  • Ensure safe, clean, and efficient shop practices during your shift
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual and CNC mills and lathes
  • Apply your experience to improve process efficiency and reduce waste
  • Collaborate with programmers and engineers to solve production challenges
  • Learn and assist with Swiss machining when needed — no prior experience required, just the right attitude
  • Maintain clear communication with day shift and leadership
  • Report issues, propose solutions, and keep production moving
  • Be the kind of leader others can count on — reliable, fair, and focused on team success
What You Bring to the Table
  • 5+ years of experience in machining (mill/lathe — both preferred)
  • Experience or interest in learning Swiss machining
  • Natural leadership traits — calm under pressure, consistent, respected by peers
  • Ability to read blueprints, measure precisely, and problem‑solve independently
  • A strong sense of pride in your work, and a commitment to growth — for yourself and your team
What’s In It for You
  • Security – Stable, full‑time role in a growing company
  • Pay That Reflects Your Skill – $30–$40/hr.
  • Growth Opportunities – Learn Swiss machining, advance into higher leadership
  • Support for Your Goals – Tuition reimbursement & ongoing development
  • Benefits That Matter – Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, PTO, flexible schedules
  • Make a Difference – Your work keeps critical industries moving forward
