General Labor, Material Handler

Basepay range
$15.84/hr - $16.73/hr
Job Description- Perform manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components, and finished products mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS, or other carriers.
- Maintain necessary files and documentation.
- Utilize small hand tools and operate scales, metering machines, and hand trucks to move materials.
- Check goods against shipping documents and authorizations, pack goods for shipment according to specifications, prepare bills of lading, post weight and shipping charges, and attach shipping information to boxes.
- Occasionally perform receiving activities such as unpacking goods, checking against bills of lading and packing slips, identifying and counting items, maintaining records of goods received, rejecting damaged or excess goods, routing material to inspection, storage, or other destinations.
- Operate a forklift truck when required.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1-3 years of related experience (Preferred)
- Fork Lift License (Required)
Skills and Abilities
- Language skills: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide across units, calculate rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; solve problems involving variables in standardized situations.
- Good mechanical ability; work on a team with minimal supervision; handle fast‑paced repetitive position; work a 12‑hour shift with overtime requirements.
- Forklift, clamp truck, pallet jack, and other powered industrial trucks as assigned.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions and document data; maintain open communication with team members, leadership, and other departments.
- Follow written or oral instructions to properly complete tasks; determine when to raise issues to leadership.
- Responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members.
- Assist other areas of the Warehouse as needed.
- Stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally; required vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception.
- Work environment may include mechanical vibration, high or precarious places, electrical shock, and loud noise requiring hearing protection.
RRD’s current salary range for this role is $15.84 to $16.73 per hour. The range may be adjusted based on geographic location. Compensation may include a bonus, commission, or incentive program, plus benefits such as medical, dental, vision, paid time off, disability, 401(k) with company match, life insurance, parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance, and employer discounts.
