Position: Senior CNC Swiss Lathe Machinist - (Multiple Shifts)

Job description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Swiss Lathe Machinist to join our first shift team
. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands‑on machining ability who is ready to take on leadership responsibilities
, including mentoring team members and influencing shop floor efficiency. You will work with advanced multi‑axis Swiss‑style lathes and play a key role in maintaining quality, throughput, and shop safety.

Responsibilities
  • Setup and Operation of 2‑axis, 7‑axis dual spindle, and 9‑axis Swiss CNC lathes (e.g., Citizen).
  • Perform program edits and optimize G‑code to improve cycle time, tool life, and part accuracy.
  • Lead by example in tool changes, offset adjustments, and insert identification.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T specifications.
  • Use precision measuring tools: calipers, micrometers, indicators, optical comparators.
  • Collaborate with programmers and supervisors on process improvements.
  • Mentor junior machinists, help train new hires, and assist in onboarding apprentices.
  • Ensure all parts meet SMI documentation, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and 7S‑compliant workspace.
  • Communicate clearly with leadership on job status, materials, and priorities.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years CNC Swiss lathe machining experience.
  • Strong familiarity with Fanuc/MITSUBISHI controllers
    .
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot machine or tooling issues independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset.
  • Ability to coach and lead peers in a shop‑floor environment.
  • Experience working with mil‑spec tolerances preferred.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, and able to follow SMI policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with aerospace or defense industry machining practices.
  • Documentation experience (travelers, first articles, in‑process inspection logs).
