Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities include:

• Implies and monitors patient care plans; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

• Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date;
  American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire.
• Education:
  
  Diploma from an accredited nursing school or required professional licensure at time of hire.
• RNs with 1-2 years of recent experience in cardiac care, stepdown, telemetry, or ICU settings preferred. Graduate RNs or RNs without cardiac telemetry experience will be required to attend hospital-based Critical Care Education classes.
• ACLS required; can be obtained upon hire.
• Technical skills: familiarity with telemetry monitoring, interpretation of cardiac rhythms, and management of patients on cardiac drips; proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems; skills in critical care; strong assessment skills and ability to recognize early signs of cardiac instability or deterioration.
• Preferred strengths: critical thinking and problem solving; communication skills; adaptability & flexibility.
