Armed Security Officer – Security and Safety – 32 hrs/wk – Variable Shift – Madison Heights

Provides security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors. Responsibilities include proactive monitoring and timely responses to potential or actual security threats, investigating, documenting, and managing security incidents, maintaining knowledge of policies and emergency/disaster preparedness plans, facilitating planned drills and simulations, and providing information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.

• Proactive monitoring and timely responses to potential or actual security threats.
• Investigate, document, and manage security incidents and hazards.
• Maintain knowledge of and follow policies regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans.
• Facilitate planned drills and simulations.
• Provide information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• Operate vehicles safely and responsibly when required, avoiding accidents and traffic or parking violations.

Certifications/Licensures

Required:

• Driver’s License from the Michigan Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained before hire date.
• Michigan Concealed Pistol License obtained before hire date.
• BLS Provider preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Law Enforcement preferred.
• Management of Aggressive Behavior credential from the Management of Aggressive Behavior Training International, Inc. preferred.
• Security Professional preferred.

Education/Experience

Required:

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Alternative: required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience.
• 3 years of security, law enforcement, military, or fire experience.
