Job DescriptionPerforms manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components and finished products mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS or other similar carrier. Maintains necessary files and documentation. Utilizes small hand tools and operates scales, metering machines, etc., and primarily uses hand trucks to move materials around. Typical shipping activities include checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges, and attaching information and shipping instructions to boxes.
May occasionally perform activities related to receiving materials such as unpacking goods, checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identifying quantity, maintaining records of goods received, rejecting damaged, excess or misdirected goods, routing material to inspection, storage or other destinations. May require operation of a forklift truck.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1-3 years of related experience (Preferred)
- Required Certifications/Licensures:
Forklift License
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Good mechanical ability. Ability to work on a team with minimal supervision. Ability to handle a fast‑paced repetitive position. Ability to work a 12‑hour shift with overtime requirements.
Equipment / Software Utilized
- Forklift, clamp truck, pallet jack and other powered industrial trucks as assigned.
Communication and Contacts
Able to read and comprehend simple instructions and document data. Maintain open communications with team members, leadership, and other departments.
Decision Making
Ability to follow and carry out written or oral instructions to properly complete assigned tasks. Ability to determine the need for escalating issues to leadership.
Other
- Responsible for training and supporting new and existing team members.
- Assist other areas of the Warehouse as needed.
