Mechanic Diesel Technician – Senior Level (Permanent, Full Time)

Bakersfield, California

Immediately hiring a permanent full‑time senior level diesel technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Bakersfield, California.

• Hourly Pay: $30.00 per hour
• Certification bonus up to $700 per new ASE certification obtained
• Quarterly bonus up to $500 per quarter
• Sign‑on bonus: $1750 after 30 days and $1750 after 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday – Saturday, one day off during the week
• Hours:
  
  First shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties: standard and preventive maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems, completing detailed inspections and repairs, replacing defective components.
• Perform facility maintenance duties.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints.
• Use shop management system and electronic documentation.
• Comply with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines.
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
• Other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support).
• SBTIII training within 180 days; complete 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days.

• Post‑secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
• Minimum tool requirement.
• Valid driver's license.
• Valid CDL (license
  
  A) highly desired; mandatory in some locations.
• State license as required.
• Minimum 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment.

• Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse).
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background and motor‑vehicle check.
