We are seeking determined candidates for an entry‑level or certified diesel/trailer technician position in our maintenance shop. The role involves maintaining and repairing tractors and trailers in a fleet that is unique to the industry.
ScheduleMonday‑Friday, 1st Shift
Responsibilities- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid level checks.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and computer software.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Use MCK’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Comply with all safety protocols and procedures; keep the work area clean and safe.
- Learn new skills through MCK’s technician training or other approved courses.
- Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Fabricate and build specialized platforms for cargo management (trailer experience).
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair trailer bodies, systems, and components.
- Perform preventative maintenance measures on trailers.
- Maintain hubs and axles; adjust or replace when required.
- Inspect, service, and replace trailer parts, including tires.
- Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Test all systems and equipment for performance issues.
- Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements.
- Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management.
- Reading and writing ability.
- Technical training in related fields.
- Ability to learn basic mechanical tasks.
- Welding and fabrication certifications preferred.
- Expertise in welding preferred but not required.
- ASE certification preferred but not required.
- CDL‑A preferred but not required.
