Salary Range: $27.53 to $32.66 per hour*

The Town of Madison is accepting applications for the position of Equipment Operator – Public Works. This position is located in the Public Works Department of the Town. This is a Union position (Teamsters Local #443) and thus subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Completed applications must be received in the Human Resources Department. The position will be posted until filled.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform
Essential Job Functions:
Completion of High School or equivalent with one to two years of related experience. Experience with operating heavy equipment is required. Position requires a CDL B CT Motor Vehicle License. Pre-employment physical, drug tests, and a background check is required. All CDL licenses will be run through the FMCSA Clearinghouse to confirm validity.
Position
Purpose:
Performs semi-skilled and manual work to operate highway trucks, sweeper, front end loader, grader and other highway equipment. Maintains sewers and performs laborer’s duties in the Highway Department. Patches holes in roads, hauls materials and installs signs. Operates dump truck with plowing equipment and sander to plow and treat Town roads, parking lots, grounds and facilities; distributes salt. Assists in repairing storm drains, catch basins, grading, cold patching and black top work.
Trims brush, cuts trees, keeps sidewalks and roads clear. Must be able to respond to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis.
