Ivy Tech Madison is currently accepting applications for adjunct faculty members to instruct in the Medical Assisting and Health Sciences programs.
ResponsibilitiesAdjunct faculty positions are temporary, part‑time positions hired each semester on an as‑needed basis. The faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals, providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.
Program OperationPerform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to the course(s) being taught and follow syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submit requested information within established timelines.
StudentsBe available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with the program coordinator to resolve issues.
InstructionMeet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In the event of an emergency absence, notify the program/department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views, promoting the same as an integral part of one's work.
Minimum QualificationsMust have a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction (Medical Assisting CMA (AAMA)).
Medical Assisting Program Standard- Possesses an earned associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
- Has one year related work experience
- Is current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives included in their assigned teaching, as evidenced by two years of directly related work experience, and the following:
- Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program and/or discipline being taught
- Current CMA certification
